The suspect fled the scene after injuring a security guard

A Superdrug store in south Bristol has temporarily closed after a break-in.

The store and pharmacy in Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Knowle has shut after the incident yesterday evening (March 4).

An unknown male forced entry to the Superdrug, police say, before fleeing the scene after injuring a security guard.

A smashed window to the shop inside the shopping centre has since been boarded up. Superdrug have been contacted for comment.

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We are investigating a non-dwelling burglary at Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Knowle yesterday evening (Monday 4 March).

"Shortly before 8pm on-duty officers were made aware an unknown male had forced entry to Superdrug.

"A security guard sought to detain the suspect, but an altercation ensued and the offender was able to flee the scene. The security guard sustained a physical injury that was believed to be minor.

"CCTV enquiries are being carried out but we'd ask anyone with information to contact us online or call 101 and quote reference number 5224056864."
