Storm Ciarán: Live updates as Bristol hit by heavy rains and strong winds

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for the Bristol area as Storm Ciarán sweeps the UK.

Although the city has so far escaped the worst of the storm, which is battering the south coast, there is heavy rain in Bristol and the Met Office predicts it will be at its worst between 11am and 1pm.

Wind gusts of up to 30mph have already been reported in Bristol although these could rise to 40mph by the middle of the afternoon.

A number of flights to and from Bristol Airport today have already been cancelled due to the storm.

Bristol Airport cancellations

The following arrival flights have been cancelled:

  • 10.50am: Blue Islands SI4474 from Jersey 
  • 1.15pm: Klm KL1051 from Amsterdam 
  • 2.30pm: Aurigny GR642 from Exeter to Guernsey 
  • 4.45pm: Klm KL1053 from Amsterdam
  • 11.20am: Blue Islands SI4475 to Jersey 
  • 1.45pm: Klm KL1052 to Amsterdam 
  • 3pm: Aurigny GR642 to Guernsey
  • 5.15pm: Klm KL1054 to Amsterdam

The following departure flights have been cancelled:

  • 11.20am: Blue Islands SI4475 to Jersey 
  • 1.45pm: Klm KL1052 to Amsterdam 
  • 3pm: Aurigny GR642 to Guernsey
  • 5.15pm: Klm KL1054 to Amsterdam
