Firefighters rescue person trapped in vehicle - road closed for several hours

A person was rescued from a vehicle after it was involved in a crash on a narrow lane between Keynsham and Stockwood last night (January 8). The incident happened on Stockwood Hill, which leads on to Stockwood Lane, at just before 5pm.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to take out a person trapped in one of the vehicles. Firefighters did this by cutting the vehicle and removing some of the hedgerow along the road, which has a 30mph speed limit.

Hide AdSouth Western Ambulance Service was made aware of the incident, but was not needed to attend. Police closed the road for several hours to allow recovery work and then the clearing up of oil from the road surface by a highways team.
A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Hicks Gate were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Stockwood Lane, Keynsham at 16:59 on Sunday 8 January.
“On arrival, crews found a road traffic collision involving two vehicles. Firefighters rescued one person trapped within a vehicle by cutting the vehicle and removing hedgerow. Stockwood Hill remained closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.”
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A two-vehicle collision in Stockwood Hill, near Keynsham, was reported to police at about 4.55pm yesterday (Sunday 8 January).

Hide Ad“The police and fire services attended the incident and a road closure was put in place to allow recovery work to be carried out. Officers remained on the scene until approximately 10.45pm.”
It was the second two-vehicle crash on the road in a month after a similar incident on Decemeber 16.
