One of Bristol's top restaurants has had its coveted Michelin star deleted in the 2024 awards this evening.

Paco Tapas in Redcliffe had held on to its star for a number of years but its surprise deletion means the city now has only one Michelin-star restaurant - Bulrush in Cotham.

A total of 18 restaurants lost their star in the awards but a large number of those were due to closures. It is not known why the Michelin inspectors have stripped Paco Tapas of its star.

There are 170 restaurants in the UK with one Michelin star and 18 new ones were awarded this evening at a ceremony in Manchester. There are now 27 two-star restaurants in the UK and nine three-star restaurants.

Paco Tapas owner and chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias previously held a Michelin star at his Casamia restaurant, which closed in 2022. The site is now Casa, a more informal style restaurant, although Sanchez-Iglesias recently posted on social media that he has plans to reopen Casamia and is currently looking for a suitable site.
