Road closures: seven for Bristol drivers this week

Drivers in and around Bristol will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures are due to start this week:

M49, from 10pm December 5 to 6am December 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 entry slip closed. Includes closure of flyover to access M5 from Portway roundabout. For gantry inspections. Diversion via St Brendan's roundabout, M5 southbound to turn and return northbound, at, junction 19.

M5, from 10pm December 5 to 6am December 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 exit slip closed for gantry inspections. No direct access to Portway roundabout. Diversion via M5 northbound to junction 17, to turn and return southbound. Access to Portway roundabout via St Brendan's Roundabout and A4.

M49, from 10am to 2pm on December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, M5, junction 18 to M4, junction 22 lane closure for sweeping.

M32, from 9pm December 12 to 6am December 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 3 entry slip road closed for structure maintenance. Access remains available to Mina Road, diversion via A4032 southbound, Newfoundland Street, turn at St James Barton roundabout,A4044 northbound, A4032 northbound to join M32, Mina Road traffic via York Street, Servier Street, Sussex Place, Lower Ashley Road then join main diversion at, junction 3, M32.

A4, from 8pm December 13 to 6am December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 St Brendans Roundabout, Avonmouth, lane closures for electrical works.

M4, from 10pm December 14 to 6am December 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, entry slip road from M5 southbound, closed for electrical works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn to join M4 eastbound to continue journey.

M5, from 10pm December 19 to 6am December 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 19 to 18 - lane closure for road markings renewal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
