Road closures: almost a dozen for Bristol drivers this week

Drivers in and around Bristol will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 10 closures are due to start this week:

• M5, from 10pm September 20 to 6am September 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 20 to junction 19 Lane closure and, junction 19 exit Slip closure for Cyclic works, diversion to junction 18a and return.

• M5, from 10pm September 21 to 6am September 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 exit slip road closure, *diversion via M5 northbound, exit, junction 17, turn and re-join M5 southbound to junction 18.

• M32, from 7am September 23 to 7pm September 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 Both Directions, junction 1 to junction 2 Hard Shoulder closures for inspections.

• M32, from 10pm September 23 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 lane closure for maintenance works.

• M4, from 10pm September 26 to 6am September 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

• M5, from 10pm September 26 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip from the M49 closed. Includes lane closures on the M5, junction 18 to 19. For maintenance works. Diversion via the alternative entry slip from St Brendans Roundabout.

• M4, from 10pm September 26 to 6am September 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvement works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

• A4, from 10pm September 27 to 6am September 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 both directions St. Andrews to St. Brendans roundabout lane closures for drainage works.

• A4, from 10pm September 28 to 6am September 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 both directions St. Andrews to St. Brendans roundabout lane closures for drainage works.

• M32, from 10pm October 3 to 6am October 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 to 2 - carriageway closure for central reservation works, diversion southbound, via A4174 westbound, / A38 southbound, / B4469 Muller Road / re-join M32. For northbound, diversion follow above in reverse.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
