Ten Bristol eateries are up for the title of the city’s best restaurant

Ten Bristol restaurants have been shortlisted for a prestigious national award - although one closed a year ago and another is due to close just after the winners are announced.

The fifth annual British Restaurant Awards are set to take place on September 5, a few weeks before The Ethicurean restaurant in Wrington near Bristol shuts its doors.

Also in the list of restaurants battling it out for the title of ‘best restaurant in Bristol’ is Casamia in Redcliffe, which closed in August 2022. The owners have since reopened the site with a different concept and called it Casa.

Other Bristol restaurants shortlisted in the awards are The Chef’s Table in Hotwells, Bulrush in Cotham, The Mint Room in Clifton, Namak in St Werburgh’s, Paco Tapas in Redcliffe, Adelina Yard in Welsh Back, BOX-E in Wapping Wharf and Wilsons in Redland.

For diners wishing to check out The Ethicurean, however, they will have to be quick as it will close for good at the end of September after 13 years.

Set in a Victorian walled garden against a backdrop of the Mendip Hills, the restaurant prides itself on growing much of the produce on the menu, which costs £150 per person for the 14-course ‘Full Ethicurean Experience’.

The British Restaurant Awards is sponsored by new social media network Telephonos and all voting is done by registering on www.telephonos.com.
