Race for Life Bristol: 14 brilliant pictures from the Downs event

Men, women and children took part in either a 5k or 10k race for charity

Over 4,000 runners, walkers and joggers took part in Race for Life and Pretty Muddy to help beat cancer and raise in the region of £275,000 funds for vital research.

It's the 30th year of Race for Life and participants received a special medal to mark the milestone.

Men, women and children took part in either a 5k or 10k on The Downs on Sunday. Money raised at Race for Life enables scientists to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer- helping to save more lives. 

The event was declared open by Sue Shergold and Sandra Harvey, two Bristol women who have been through cancer treatment.

Race for Life has raised over £940m towards life-saving research since it began 30 years ago.
