Prince Street Bridge will close tomorrow and on Wednesday for emergency repairs after the swing bridge failed to open.

Bristol City Council says the link between the city centre and Wapping Wharf will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists from 10am to 4pm on April 27 and 28. A diversion route will be in place directing people to Redcliffe Bridge.

The bridge will also be closed for motorists from 8am to 4pm on the days.

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: “We urgently need to repair a mechanism that allows Prince Street Bridge to swing open. It shouldn’t take us long to fix, but we were unable to give more notice because the problem has only just been identified.
