Queues formed and there were even reports of scuffles when Prime drink first went on sale at Aldi stores in Bristol in December - scenes which led to the supermarket banning sales of the drink, until today.

From today, shoppers at Aldi can buy six different flavours of the drink, created by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, for just £1.99. That RRP is well below the amount some people were paying for the drinks at the end of last year.

The drink was launched by the two social media celebrities who actively promote the drinks, resulting in more than 100 million bottles being sold. Back in January, we tried two flavours of the drink, paying £2.29 for each at a SPAR shop in Bishop Sutton.

As well as people questioning the inflated price, and taste, of the drinks, there have also been concerns about what is inside them. Redland Green School banned students from bringing in the bottles of drink over the level of electrolytes in the Prime Hydration product, and the levels of caffine in Prime Energy.

But given the responses on social media this morning, there still appears to be a craze for the sought-after drink.

The Prime Hydration drinks on sale at Alda are the the new Limited Edition Orange and Mango, Meta Moon, Tropical Punch, Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime, and Ice Pop. However, Aldi says customers will only be able to buy one bottle per person of each flavour.

On announcing the sale of the drinks, Aldi tweeted: “£1.99 each. 6 flavours. 1 of each flavour per customer. If you know you know.”

The company account also responded to one person’s claim an age limit should be imposed on the drink. A spokesperson said: “The Prime Hydration range is not age restricted as it doesn’t contain any caffeine and is classed as a sports drink not an energy drink. We hope this helps and will ensure to pass along your comments to the relevant team .”
