A Bristol Chinese takeaway with an all-vegan menu has announced it is closing its doors for more than a month.

Cheung's Vegan Kitchen on Sandhurst Road in Brislington will be shut from Monday (March 4) until April 9 - to give its kitchen staff a “well-deserved break”.

On Facebook, the 54-year-old takeaway wrote: "Our team has been working tirelessly through the festive season and the Chinese New Year, pouring their hearts into every dish we serve.

“To show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication, we’ve decided to give our kitchen staff a well-deserved break.

“This pause will allow our team to recharge, spend precious time with their families, and come back to you with even more culinary passion.

“We understand this may cause some disappointment, but we hope you can understand the need for this break.”

Cheung’s was first opened in 1969 as a traditional Chinese takeaway and fish bar, before adopting an all-vegan menu in recent years.

Dishes include sweet and sour chicken balls, chilli beef, Kung Po chicken and duck chow mein - all made with meat-free alternatives.
