Popular butcher and baker shop in St Werburgh’s issues statement over food hygiene rating

A popular butchers and bakers in St Werburgh’s has responded to a food hygiene report which deemed major improvement was necessary.

Popti & Beast, a combination of bakery with cafe and a butchers on Mina Road, received the one-star hygiene rating, published on the Food Standards Agency website, after a visit from officers from Bristol City Council on February 3.

It has meant Uber Eats is currently not delivering for the group.

But in a statement provided by the owners, the company said improvements had been made since the inspection, and it was waiting for officers to revisit for a new rating.

It said: “We had been working with food standard consultants immediately after our inspection.

“The issues have now been resolved and ok’d by the specialists in this field.

“We are now awaiting our environmental health officer to come in and do a new inspection within the next few weeks of which all parties expect to be at the highest standard after the work we have put in to improve our situation.”
