One of Bristol’s most popular venues for Sunday roasts and brunches has been put up for sale.

Harbour & Browns at Cargo 2 in Wapping Wharf opened in 2017 on the back of the success of sibling business Brace and Browns on Whiteladies Road.

Occupying two converted shipping containers, Harbour & Browns had space for 34 diners inside and an outside drinking area for a further 24 people.

Over the past six years, it gained a strong reparation for its Sunday roasts, cocktails and small plates. It was also popular as a venue to hire out for events including birthdays and office breakout sessions.

But the owners have decided to sell the restaurant in order to concentrate on expanding the offering at Brace and Browns in Clifton.

The Cargo 2 restaurant has been put on the market by agents Christie for £50,000 leasehold.

The property is available on a new five year, free-of-tie lease and the passing rent is £27,095 per annum. There is also a monthly service charge fee of £572.15.

The sale of Harbour & Browns is the latest in a series of changes at Wapping Wharf. Last week, Bristol World reported on the closure of ice cream business Oliver’s and this month also saw the sudden closure of Persian-inspired takeaway Jigaraki and Woky Ko.

In December, the Wild Beer bar closed when the brewery went into administration. Kent-based Curious Brewery has since bought Wild Beer out of administration but it’s understood that the transaction doesn’t include the taproom at Wapping Wharf.

As well as the cost of living crisis and energy bill increases, many Wapping Wharf businesses have also been badly affected by the closure of the footbridge linking the area with south Bristol.

The owners of Harbour & Browns have been approached for comment.
