Creams, a gelato parlour which specialises in ice creams and other Italian-inspired desserts, was locked and in darkness at the weekend, when it was due to be open for the Harbour Festival.

Notices in the window from a law firm said possession of the premises on Baldwin Street had been taken back by the landlord.

The Creams chain started in 2008 and calls itself ‘the UK’s favourite dessert parlour’.

It has a 100 stores dotted around the UK, although a cafe in Stratford, London, has closed, and stores in Stockport and Maidstone are ‘temporarily closed’ according to the website.

A notice taped on the inside of the windows of the closed Bristol restaurant is addressed to franchisees Suhil Ltd.

It reads: “Hexmead Limited, the landlord of the premises, has today re-entered therein in accordance with his power to do so and as a consequence of such re-entry the premises have been secured.

“And further take notice that no person may lawfully enter on to these premises unless they have been authorised by the above Hexmead Limited. Any attempt by any person to enter these premises without the previous authority of Hexmead Limited may amount to a criminal offence and result in prosecution.”

The notice, dated July 12, says it was served by a Middlesex-based solicitors.
