A popular festival is set to be held in Bath instead of Bristol this year in a shock move.

Foodies, which is the UK’s biggest touring celebrity food and music festival series, is due to take place in the Royal Victoria Park from June 7 to 9.

It will be the first time time the festival, which will feature chefs alongside music acts such as Blue, Example and Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra, has been held in Bath.

Known as ‘Gastro-Glastonbury’, the three-day event will feature live cooking demonstrations from TV celebrities and chefs drawn from the ranks of MasterChef, Great British Bake Off and Great British Menu.

Foodies director Sue Hitchen said: “We are thrilled to bring our celebration of amazing food, drink and entertainment to Bath, and we are proud to support local artisan producers and restaurants.

“We will be working with local residents and the council to establish the event, and very much look forward to welcoming the community.”

Foodies Festival launched in 2005 as a single event and is now the largest food and drink festival in the UK.

For more than a decade, the Foodies Festival was an important diary date for Bristol food and drink lovers.

What started in the Harbourside became so popular that in recent years it moved to a new, larger venue on The Downs.

But last year, the UK’s biggest touring gourmet food and music festival moved again to Little Stoke Park near Stoke Gifford in South Gloucestershire.
