A studio space offering craft courses and workshops is set to relocate to another part of the city under a new owner.

Creative Space Bristol, which opened on North Street in Bedminster six years ago, is moving to the High Street in Staple Hill.

Lauren Holloway, who is the sewing teacher at Creative Space, has bought the business, with current owner and founder Emma Williams moving on.

The space, where Emma has also run her upholstery business In Recovery since 2012, will close in its current location on May 31.

Emma said: “In June I am moving on to other things and Lauren, who some of you may know as our lovely sewing teacher, is taking over at Creative Space.

“Lauren is overseeing a move to a great new location (with lots of free parking) in Fishponds where much of what we already do will continue plus loads of new classes.”

Creative Space offers classes including upholstery, dressmaking, machine knitting, stained glass, fused glass, jewellery, printing, floristry, weaving and more.

Lauren added: “I’m really excited about taking on Creative Space and carrying on the work that Emma has built up over the past six years.

“We’ll continue to offer a wide variety of creative workshops and classes but in a new location based on the High Street in-between Fishponds and Staple Hill.

“As much as we’ll be sad to leave the bustling centre of Bedminster, it’s also a great opportunity to attract a new audience in an area of the city which is becoming more and more popular.

“I’m really looking forward to this new venture and to working with new students and workshop leaders in Bristol and beyond.”

The Bedminster location will close on May 31 and there’ll be a month crossover with classes happening at the new venue from May, but everything will move permanently from June onwards.
