A popular Bristol ice cream parlour and cafe that also gained a reputation for its burgers has closed its doors suddenly.

Cowbee overlooking College Green opened in the summer of 2019 on the corner of Park Street and Unity Street.

It took over a former branch of HSBC bank and was the first launch from Bristol couple Nicola and Adam Sztuka.

Cowbee served waffles, shakes and a range of homemade ice creams using Chew Valley milk and honey from the owners’ own bees.

It went on to launch a burger menu using local meat and became a popular pre-theatre venue in the early evening.

In recent weeks, Cowbee’s opening times have varied and it didn’t open its doors over the weekend.

Today, when Bristol World visited, the large windows on both sides of the cafe had been whitewashed and a pile of mail was on the floor inside the main entrance.

Chairs were still on tables and there was no sign of staff despite the cafe being listed as open for business online.

If Cowbee has closed its doors for good, it will be the latest high profile hospitality closure in a week.

Bristol World has contacted the Cowbee owners for comment.
