They stopped it and arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, who have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

There were a number of items inside the car, including several bags of wrapped Christmas presents, which are believed to have been stolen, possibly from other vehicles.

Most of the presents were labelled from ‘Debbie and Lee’ or ‘Sarah, Rich, Max and Joe’.

Anyone who thinks the Christmas presents might be theirs or knows the people named on the labels is asked asked to called 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5223303810.

Anyone with information about the theft of the vehicle is also asked call 101 quoting the same reference.
