Footage has been released of a missing woman located by railway tracks in Bristol.

The woman was spotted with a police thermal imaging camera from a helicopter which was circling over the city in the early hours of this morning (January 4).

The footage from The National Police Air Service (NPAS) shows the woman walking along a railway line as trains speed by.

It first shows the woman walking close to the train track at 3.22am.

Trains can then be seen speeding by, just a few feet away from her.

Three people then approach the woman to escort her away from the railway line to safety.

NPAS said the rescue was successful thanks to assistance from British Transport Police Avon and Somerset and Avon and Somerset Police.

It confirmed that once the woman had been taken safely off the tracks she was taken “to a place of safety for further care”.
