Police helicopter deployed over south Bristol as weapon seized and woman arrested

A woman has been arrested after officers seized a weapon from a vehicle in south Bristol overnight.

At about 12.40am this morning (Monday 19 June) a member of the public reported suspicious behaviour by a person on a motorbike and two people in a car in Hengrove.

A short time later an attempted motorbike theft was reported in Stockwood, but the offenders were disturbed. Officers attended, with support of the National Police Air Service, to search for those involved.

A car matching the initial description seen in Hengrove was found and stopped by officers. The vehicle was searched and a bladed article seized.

A 23-year-old woman was subsequently arrested. She has since been released on bail.

Enquiries are ongoing and Police ask anyone with information about the attempted theft to call 101 and quote reference number 5223143871.
