Police helicopter called over south Bristol after reports of men seen with ‘large knives’

A police helicopter was called over parts of south Bristol last night (December 29) after reports of a group of men carrying large knives.

A National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was dispatched over the area after Avon and Somerset Police were called to Paxton Drive in Ashton at around 10.30pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Firearms officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

“A search of the area was carried out and there was no trace of the suspects or the vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing.”

The NPAS helicopter was later spotted over parts of Brislington and Knowle at around 11.30pm.
