Plans have been submitted to transform a historic former Bristol pub as part of a care home development.
The proposals, by Meadowcare Homes, will see a 80-bed care home and 20 staff flats created in new buildings around the White Hart Lodge on Bath Road in Brislington.

White Hart Lodge was built as a coaching inn on the Bath Road in 1738, but was most recently used by the School of Performing Arts until 2021.
The building has been adapted and modified over the years, but developers say it is now ‘in a very sad condition requiring considerable investment’.
The lodge will be retained as part of the development, which will see a main four-storey building built on the land behind it.

The first floor will be a dedicated performance space, hosting music, drama, poetry, club meetings, bingo, art exhibitions and classes, craft fairs and ‘everything else which can be imagined’.
The planning application is due to go before a council planning committee, before a decision is made by councillors.
