Kelly Mills, owner of the Auden Mead Lights SEND Display, shares her experience with the Christmas Display.

Auden Mead Lights SEND Display is a unique, sensory, interactive display on 12 Auden Mead, Horfield, Bristol.

The display has been created with SEND children and young adults in mind and is the only one of its kind in the UK.

Guests are encouraged to touch the display, play with the available games and props and snuggle up in the relaxing igloo.

This is the second year the display is running but the “first year we’ve gone all out for SEND children with games, bubble machines. Just spreading it into the SEND community,” Kelly told BristolWorld.

The display has been well received by the community.

Kelly said: “There’s been more SEND children that have arrived than other families, which is what I wanted.

“I wanted the message across for SEND children to come and enjoy it and feel welcome and not overwhelmed.”

When asked about the inspiration behind the display, Kelly commented: “I have a SEND child myself. I’ve been fighting the SEND system for seven years and we just wanted to pair the charity with the SEND community and that’s why we have created the display.”
