'Heartbreaking' - Tributes paid to 'tireless' Bristol community volunteer Ken Jones after death aged 92

Ken Jones was well-respected in the Knowle West area, where he was a scout leader, church volunteer, walks leader and board member of various community organisations including Knowle West Health Association.


A number of tributes have poured in for Ken, who was awarded a Lord Mayor's medal for his volunteering in 2012.

Hide Ad“I had so much respect for him, he worked tirelessly for our community,” wrote June McNeill, former manager of Filwood Community Centre where Ken was a board member for many years.

Hide AdCharlemia Baker added: “He was my neighbour growing up, he treated me and my sisters as his own granddaughters! Heartbreaking.”
Environmental campaigner Danica Priest said: “Ken was such a big help to our campaign to save the [Western] Slopes. He will be sorely missed.”
And Filwood Tree Champion Jim Smith said: “Also much respect for him, he did so much to try to stop Bristol City Council sinking Knowle West into the mire!”
