The Lateish Show usually airs at 10pm on Fridays but, alongside Celebrity Gogglebox, is being pushed back from its usual timeslot, as from 7pm, Channel 4 will air England's Euro 2024 qualifier match. The show’s host, Mo Gilligan, is reported to be starring in Celebrity Gogglebox for another season.

Russell’s appearance on the show comes in the middle of his UK comedy tour. The UK leg of the tour will conclude on 12 September in London, with Russell then moving on to the US leg, which will begin in North Carolina on 4 October.

The comedian recently performed in Dublin where he thanked fans, saying that the shows had been some of the “maddest” yet. Taking to Twitter, Russell said: “Week 13 of tour, DONE! ✅ Dublin that was such a fun week, some of the maddest gigs of the tour. I always love playing here and it was an absolute pleasure to be back, thank you so much to everyone who came!”

Fans commented on how much they enjoyed the show, with one saying: “Was there Saturday night....second time seeing you in Dublin. You are seriously funny....loved it! Can't wait for the next tour!” Another added: “Genuinely pulled a muscle in my neck laughing so hard Friday! Was an amazing show! Come back soon!! 💙.”
