23-year-old Ben Holbrough from Gloucester was one of 12 original Islanders that entered the iconic Love Island villa last night.

In the first coupling, Ben, a private hire taxi driver, partnered up with 22-year-old Shakira Khan, a marketing executive and children’s entertainer from Burnley.

Before heading into the villa, he was asked by ITV which type of Islander he would like to couple up with.

Ben, who also does some modelling, replied: “Someone sexy, good looking, good chat, good vibes, nice teeth and good eye contact - they’re all the traits I look for. Oh, and also a cute smile, I just look at you and know I can be around you all day, every day.”

As his other pre-show question, Ben was then asked if his love life was a business, would it be booming or would she be bankrupt.

The 6’2 star said: “Bankrupt. I’d have been out of business a long time ago. That’s exactly why I’m here.”

Things have already gotten rocky for our Gloucestshire hopeful though, as the show’s very first American bombshell entered at the end of the episode and she was able to steal one of the boys straight away.

Las Vegas pool cabana server Toni Laites picked Ben as her beau, meaning Shakira is now the only singleton in the villa and risks being dumped if she does not find a new connection in time for the next recoupling.

Ben and Toni are however immune from the next recoupling so they are the only confirmed safe pair currently.

Love Island will continue tomorrow (June 10) on ITV2 at 9pm.

Expect new episodes on weeknights and Sundays with Unseen Bits scheduled for Saturday evenings.
