A new McDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru is opening soon in Bristol.

The fast food retailer has confirmed to BristolWorld that its new site in Emersons Green is scheduled to open in mid-late April.

The McDonald’s, near the Wick Wick Roundabout, has been built alongside a Greggs after Greene King Commercial Investments received planning permission last July.

It is located in the final undeveloped plot at the Harlequin Office Park development, which already has a Costa and Travelodge.

Planning documents showed the McDonald's would include a sales counter, indoor and outdoor seating areas, an outdoor play area, a kitchen and customer toilets at ground floor, with staff facilities, offices, freezer units.

But the plans were controversial, with 28 comments on the application from residents including six in support and 22 objecting to the scheme.

Many residents said they would have preferred anything but more fast food restaurants and would have liked the site to be transformed into a community facility or a pub.

Accessed from Fieldfare via Folly Brook Road, which in turn links to the A4174 Ring Road, the McDonald’s will be open round the clock.

The fast food retailer told BristolWorld they would have more to share about the new opening at a later stage.
