New sustainable hairdressing salon opens in Bristol and offers to recycle people’s hair

A new hairdressing salon has opened in Bristol and one of its services is recycling people’s hair.

Hone & Howe is the latest addition to Bristol’s Clifton Village and it’s run by Sam Hone and Gigi Howe who have over ten years of experience working in hair salons in Bristol and nationwide.

Hone & Howe aims to offer ‘the best in class service and the highest standard of skill and technique’ in a homely and comfortable environment whilst minimising their environmental impact.

To achieve their sustainability goals, the salon will use Davines products exclusively, as well as vegan and plant based Scrummi towels and Who Gives a Crap loo rolls.

Hone & Howe will also recycle all products in the salon, including hair, through Full Circle salon recycling. Hair is recycled by Full Cycle for composting and gardening, waterway clean ups such as oil spills, hair mats to cover storm drains and in architecture and building materials. If a collected material cannot be recycled or reduced, it is instead used to generate energy, and avoids going to the landfill.

Sam and Gigi said: “We are so excited to join the beautiful Clifton Village community. All our neighbours on The Mall and beyond have been so incredibly welcoming. We are over the moon that the next step in our hairdressing journey is opening a salon together in a place we love, after meeting in a local Bristol salon three years ago.”
