Bristol has been chosen as the first city outside of London to play host to another bar from the founders of Blame Gloria, who operate two successful cocktail bars in the capital city.

Opening in the former much-loved Timbuk2 nightclub site on Small Street, the bar is expected to open in summer and aims to be an opulent, exciting and glamorous late-night cocktail offering.

Despite its closure in 2016, Timbuk2 remains a bastion of Bristol’s underground music culture and is still thought fondly of by many as somewhere that kickstarted the scene in the city. The 300-capacity underground venue was intimate and welcomed some of the world’s best underground electronic music.

Fast forward to today and Blame Gloria hopes to make the most of this intimate venue, too. The venue offers low arched ceilings and gives a sense of intimacy despite the new bar allowing a capacity of up to 400 guests.

Expected to open in late June and set to be something a little bit different for Bristol, the new bar will provide a late-night cocktail offering where people can let loose until 3 am. According to the founders, Blame Gloria promises to “provide an eccentric and super opulent venue, taking inspiration from 1980s groupie culture, acting as a fantasy playground for the rockstars of the era.”

Founder of Blame Gloria, Tom Kidd says: “Gloria always threw the wildest parties, she still does, and we can’t wait to bring her to Bristol. With our London bars already hugely popular, we’re thrilled to be branching outside of the capital and what better city to do so than the cultural hub of Bristol.

“The venue poses the perfect layout for Blame Gloria’s eccentric interiors offering a hot spot like no other for the people of Bristol. Alongside our outstanding cocktail offering, we also have many plans up our sleeve to keep up the momentum post-launch. We can’t wait to reveal all over the coming months.”

What can be revealed already though, is that there will be an extensive list of cocktails, including the signature Sugar Daddy and the colour-changing cocktail, Karma Chameleon.

What’s more, for those in the proximity of the area, Blame Gloria’s Happy Hour offering will create a perfect hot spot for after-work drinks. Running seven days a week, visitors will receive 2-4-1 cocktails on the full menu.

Time to keep your eyes peeled for change on Small Street this summer.
