A new family-friendly burger restaurant is set to open in Bristol next month.

Fat Hippo already has 15 sites around the UK and its first Bristol restaurant will be within Harbourside venue Lane7 on Millennium Promenade.

The company specialises in high quality ‘dirty’ burgers, loaded fries and what they describe as ‘good old fashioned, roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face’ food.

Fat Hippo’s signature creations include 100% British beef patties from award-winning butcher Aubrey Allen, boneless buttermilk chicken and plant-based patties, all of which come with free hand-cut chips as standard.

The Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based burger joint is well known for burgers like the PB+JJ (a beef burger topped with peanut butter and bacon jam) and the Honey Monsta - a double patty with American cheese, buttermilk chicken piece, smoked bacon, pink pickled onions, Fat Hippo sauce and hot honey.

Fat Hippo will also offer a range of gluten-free and dairy-free options, as well as an extensive kids menu, with children being allowed in the venue until 7pm.

Graeme Smith, Lane7’s Chief Operating Officer said: “It’s exciting to be working with Fat Hippo again. We have previously teamed up successfully across Edinburgh, Sheffield and Manchester, bringing our guests an amazing selection of food options while they enjoy our venues, for all sorts of activities, adding even more to the party!”

Fat Hippo is working closely with Deliveroo and will also be launching exclusively on the platform in Bristol to allow customers to enjoy their signature burgers in the comfort of their own home.

Michael Phillips, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010, said: “We just couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Lane7 again and bring Fat Hippo’s best burgers to Bristol.

“The waterfront is the perfect location for us to be based and we can’t wait for the people of Bristol to enjoy ‘the good kind of gluttony’.”

Michael Johnson, the company’s Operations Manager, said: “It’s been an incredible ride over the last decade feeding the ever-growing herd of burger lovers and now we can’t wait to bring the best burgers to Bristol”.

The Bristol branch of Fat Hippo will open for dine in and takeout in November.
