A new food business has opened a Bristol’s Wapping Wharf area - and it’s in a converted horsebox called Baldrick.

Bagelry Box is run by husband and wife George and Flo Ball, who started the business as a result of lockdowns during the pandemic. The couple were working as chefs in London and came up with the concept after finishing late shifts in the kitchen.

When they found themselves separated through lockdown, Flo began to experiment with baking bagels, which is where Bagelry Box was born.

After moving to Bristol a year ago, Flo and George discovered Wapping Wharf, and fell in love with the community feel and wide range of independent shops, bars and restaurants.

After acquiring Baldrick, their converted horsebox, the couple began selling their bagels at markets across Bristol and the South West, and they’ll now be bringing their regularly changing menu to Wapping Wharf.

Bagelry Box’s bagels are baked fresh every morning at 4am, and come with a variety of toppings including their secret blend of original herbs and spices to make the Everything Bagel.

The menu changes regularly but showcases classics such as the pulled pork bagel, smoked salmon (sourced from their Wapping Wharf neighbours at Clifton Seafood Company), 10-hour smoked pastrami and the brunch bagel, with lots of other options for meat eaters and vegetarians.

Speaking about the new opening, co-founder Flo said: “When we moved to Bristol we knew we wanted to bring Bagelry Box to Wapping Wharf, as it was the first area of the city we really discovered. We really fell in love with it and all of the incredible food offerings, so we’re really excited to join the community and bring our love of everything bagels to the people of Bristol.”

Located at Cargo 2 in Wapping Wharf, Bagelry Box is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am to 5pm.
