It’s National Burger Day today (August 24) so what better day to check out one of Bristol’s many excellent burger joints.
Bristol has great burger restaurants and takeaways dotted all over the city, from Oowee Diner south of the river to Milk Bun in Clifton Village and many around the city centre.
Here are 12 of our favourite burger joints but if we’ve missed your favourite, do let us know so we can add them for future round-ups.
1. Asado, 90 Colston Street
Cooked over a wood-fired grill, there is an irresistible smokiness to the burgers at Asado and they also serve some fantastic cocktails, too.
2. Oowee Diner, 202 North Sreet, Southville
The best burger south of the river is served by Oowee Diner which prides itself on ‘deliciously dirty’ burgers. For meat-free alternatives, try the owners’ popular Oowee Vegan restaurant and takeaway in Baldwin Street.
3. Three Brothers Burgers, Welsh Back
A partially floating burger restaurant (don’t worry, there are tables on the quayside if you don’t like the idea of dining on a boat), Three Brothers serves a range of burgers including a buttermilk chicken version with Applewood Cheddar, smoky bacon and BBQ relish.
4. Milk Bun, 25 The Mall, Clifton
Opened in 2021, Milk Bun has quickly established itself as one of Bristol’s best burger joints but it’s also a bit of a ‘best kept secret’. The chefs make their own signature ‘milk buns’ for burgers such as the El Chapo (30 day aged beef, chimichurri mayo, shredded lettuce, chilli cheese and fresh chilli).
