A man from North Somerset will stand trial next month accused of sexually touching a child aged between 13 and 15.

Robert Kelly, 36, of Braikenridge Close, Clevedon, has pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was put to him at Bristol Magistrates’ Court earlier this year. He is now due to appear at Bristol Crown Court for a trial.

The charges were made following an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police. A spokesperson said: “Robert Kelly, of Clevedon, has been charged with one count of sexual touching of a child aged between 13 and 15.

“He appeared before magistrates in May and was released on unconditional bail.”

North Somerset Council was also involved. A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that North Somerset Council was involved in this matter as part of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) process.”

The trial at Bristol Crown Court is due to start on December 6
