Man dies after pub car park attack near Bristol

A man has died after an incident in a pub car park in Pilning, near Bristol, during the early hours of Saturday (March 2).
Emergency services attended the scene in Redwick Road at about 12.15am following a reported assault, from where Scott Hendy was taken to Southmead Hospital.

Hide AdSadly, the 46-year-old died in hospital yesterday (Sunday 3 March). His next of kin are aware.
A forensic post-mortem examination will now be conducted.
George Baylis, of Redwick Road in Pilning, was charged with grievous bodily harm without intent prior to Hendy’s death.
The 29-year-old appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court today (March 4) where an alternative charge of manslaughter was put before the court.

Hide AdBaylis was remanded and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on April 8.
Tributes have poured in for Hendy, including from The Park Knowle FC, where he was a manager and his son played.
On Facebook, The Park Knowle wrote: "Thank you for all your time and effort and support put into Park Knowle FC. Another life taken to soon. You will be missed by all that knew you.
"We are thinking of all Scott's family especially his children which includes our own Park Knowle player and his team and managers."
