Man arrested after sexual assault in Kingswood park

A man has been arrested following a sexual assault in a Kingswood park.

Police were called to Barton Fields off Charlton Road in the early hours of this morning (Monday, June 27) before sealing off an area of the park.

They later arrested a 22-year-old man who remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said the force was providing support to the victim.

She is also being offered specialist help and advice at The Bridge sexual assault referral centre.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have any information, or CCTV footage, to aid in this investigation to call 101 and quote reference number 5222151955.

They are especially interested in speaking to three individuals who helped the victim in the aftermath of the incident.

The cordon at Barton Fields will remain in place as the investigation continues.
