The three-star hotel on Bond Street, near the Bear Pit, is one of the largest in the city, offering 186 rooms.

But those trying to make a reservation have been told it is set to be closed to the public for at least a year.

In an email shared with BristolWorld, a hotel worker wrote to a customer: “Unfortunately, Hampton by Hilton Bristol City Centre is currently closed to the public for the foreseeable future due to a change in contract in April 2023.

“The hotel is likely to be closed to the public for at least a year and therefore we cannot take any future reservations.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The hotel opened in 2015, following the conversion of York House, a 1960s office block.

It features a restaurant, business centre, bar and fitness room, with 46 jobs created when it opened.

BristolWorld has contacted the Hilton Hotel group regarding the reasons for the closure.
