Madison Thomas - also known as Maddie - had been reported missing after the 15-year-old had not been seen or heard from in more than two weeks.

Ms Thomas was the subject of a large police search, including house-to-house searches and CCTV inquiries near her home in Southmead, Bristol - all carried out by Avon and Somerset Police.

Police were initially treating her disappearance as a missing persons case, before the decision was made to treat it as a child abduction on Wednesday (11 May).

Ms Thomas was found on Thursday (12 May) and three men are currently in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of child abduction.

Who is Maddie Thomas?

Maddie Thomas is a 15-year-old child from the Southmead, Bristol area in the South West of England.

Ms Thomas, who is in foster care and lives with her carers, has previously gone missing and has been found in the presence of older men.

Maddie Thomas’ last sighting before she went missing was when she left her foster home in Southmead, Bristol on 26 April.

Ms Thomas told her family that she was leaving to go to the shops.

Was she abducted and where was she found?

Police moved the case from missing persons to a child abduction on Wednesday, 11 May.

Detective Inspector Laura Miller has said that this decision was made largely because of Ms Thomas’ history of going missing and being found with older men she met on the internet.

Maddie Thomas was tracked down to a house in Bristol where she was found alive on the afternoon of Thursday, 12 May.

Three men inside the address have since been arrested on suspicion of child abduction and are currently in police custody.

What have the police said so far?

Detective Inspector Laura Miller spoke to the media after missing Bristol teen Maddie Thomas was found.

She said the following: “We’re delighted to confirm Maddie has been found.

“Three men are in police custody and will soon be questioned by officers.

“We’re extremely grateful for all the support the public gave us in our search for Maddie and would like to reassure them she is now being provided with all the care and support she needs,” siad DI Miller.

“We appreciate there is significant interest in this case and I’d ask people not to speculate and to think about the impact it may have on Maddie and her loved ones.”
