M32 Bristol crash update: Boy, 14, arrested as woman remains in life-threatening condition in hospital

Avon and Somerset Police have said a woman remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being involved in a crash in Bristol during the early hours of this morning.

The force also said a 19-year-old man, not 18 as previously reported, remains under arrest on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while unfit through drugs and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

And that a 14-year-old boy has also been arrested.

The crash happened in Newfoundland Circus, by Cabot Circus, at the junction of the A4044 and A4032, just after midnight last night (November 4).

One of the vehicles, a Volkswagen Tiguan, had been seen driving at excess speed in Montpelier and failed to stop for police officers.

It was then involved in a crash with a grey Honda Jazz at the city centre junction just after midnight.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We can confirm the following information in relation to the serious injury collision in the Newfoundland Circus area of Bristol, which happened shortly after midnight today (Friday, November 5).

“The arrested males were in a white VW Tiguan and the members of the public whose car the Tiguan was in collision with, were in a grey Honda Jazz.

“A 35-year-old woman, who was driving the Honda, remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital.

“The passenger, a 33-year-old man, suffered non life-threatening injuries

“A 19-year-old man remains under arrest on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while unfit through drugs and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

“A 14-year-old boy, who was also in the Tiguan, remains in hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries.

“He has been arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent.”

The roads around the junction were closed off until 10am this morning.
