The opening of the new store in the former H&M building on Union Street has been highly anticipated since it was announced by the German retail chain earlier this year.

And BristolWorld can now reveal the exact opening date which will be Thursday, September 8.
The store is set to create 30 new jobs for the community and features the supermarket’s famous in-store bakery as well as self-service checkouts.
It will also fill a large empty unit after H&M closed its doors during the coronavirus lockdown.

Lidl GB’s regional head of Property, Glen Stidever, said: “We have long been committed to investing significantly in Bristol, ensuring as many people as possible have access to our high quality and affordable produce.
“We are therefore delighted to open our 16th store right in the heart of the city and welcome everyone into our new supermarket.

The store opening times will be between 7am and 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.
The new supermarket forms part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn investment across the country in 2021 and 2022.
