Firefighters were called to a warehouse fire in the early hours of this morning (January 24) - the same site where £1million worth of cannabis plants and drug paraphernalia was seized.

Crews responded to the report of a fire in Moravian Road in Kingswood at 00.20am. Fire investigators have since said the blaze is a suspected arson attack.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “On arrival, crews found a fire involving a large amount of tyres and rubbish to the rear of the building.

“With six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, crews used two high-pressure hose reels and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire. Also in use were thermal imaging cameras to check for fire spread and gas monitors to ensure the scene was safe.

“The cause of the fire is thought to have been deliberate.”

Officers had previously been called to reports of a fire at a warehouse in the area on Christmas Eve. Then, firefighters advised police that they had discovered what was believed to be a cannabis factory at the site.

After the structure of the building was secured, Avon and Somerset Police accessed the building a seized cannabis plants estimated to hold a street value of £1million.
