The first performance of the day sold out fast, and I knew the 'late night' show would be next, so I panicked bought tickets for my friend and I on the release day.
Fast forward to last night (December 16), and I'm thrilled I did.
The Bristol performances were part of The Script's Satellite tour - named after their newest seventh album - and is the first tour since the band's co-founder lead guitarist, Mark Sheehan, passed away in April 2023 after a short illness.
Unfortunately, the band's drummer, Glen Power, could not perform due to personal reasons and new band members for the night Josh and Adam stepped in.
Despite seemingly only having one day to rehearse together, it did not show whatsoever.
The night was packed with banging tunes in the intimate venue.
Songs from the new album were weaved together with some of their older classics like Hall of Fame and Breakeven, which the audience enthusiastically sang along to.
Lead singer Danny O'Donoghue playfully introduced the songs with the backstory of how they were written and added funny interactions with the audience.
The performance of If You Could See Me Now took a new meaning following the passing of co-founder Mark Sheehan.
The lyrics were co-written by Danny based on the death of his parents on two separate Valentine's Days and Mark's dad passing away when he was a young teen.
The song had a new emotional layer in the concert tour, which was felt through the audience who took in the song without loudly singing along.
Overall, the hour performance was absolutely amazing and worth every penny, but that was not the end of it all.
As my friend and I left the venue, we realised a crowd had formed outside the venue and decided to wait and see what would happen.
After over an hour outside, and some very fitting singing of The Man Who Can't Be Moved by some members of the crowd, Danny came out of the building to take photos with fans.
The extra hour which bit into my sleeping time was worth it and I was able to also meet Danny and take a photo, which added to the already amazing night.
Overall, the performance was great and the audience interactions were amazing and an unusual highlight to end the night.
