The annual Santa’s on a Bike ride raises festive cheer in support of Children’s Hospice South West

Hundreds of Santas are set to ride motorbikes through Bristol city centre to raise festive cheer in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The annual Santa’s on a Bike motorbike ride to the charity’s Charlton Farm children’s hospice in Wraxall will start at Winterbourne Academy at 10.30am on December 2.

It will pass through Bradley Stoke, Gloucester Road, the Bearpit roundabout, Bristol Hippodrome, the Triangle, Hotwells, Cumberland Basin, Long Ashton and Failand.

In Bradley Stoke, the bearded bikers are stopping at the Willowbrook Centre at around 12.45pm where there will be a viewing point for members of the public to support the Santas as they arrive.

The annual Santa’s on a Bike fundraiser has raised thousands of pounds for CHSW over the years, while bringing smiles to the faces of people who line the various routes to watch them.

Organisers said: “We’re expecting dozens of Santas, riding bikes covered in festive decorations this year and we cannot wait.

“Please spread the word, invite your friends and support your local children’s hospice – let’s make this the biggest and best year ever.

“All bikes, trikes and quads are welcome, and the ride is fully L-plate friendly. Don’t worry if you’ve not attended a group ride before, you’ll be made very welcome. The route will be fully marshalled so you won't get lost.

“The ride takes place entirely on open public roads so all bikes should be road legal and all normal road rules apply.”

Lucie Perryman, area fundraiser for CHSW added:  “We are really looking forward to seeing the Santa’s on a Bike again this year and want to say a huge thank you to the event organisers and the riders for all the work that goes into making this happen.

“This is such a highlight in our festive calendar at Charlton Farm, the families staying love seeing all of the Santas arriving, and the money raised helps the charity to continue to provide vital care and support to local families when they need it most.”
