The group of around 40 caravans have moved onto the old railway line under Bath Road, near the Lodekka pub.

There have previously been Travellers pitched on the site in Brislington, but this group is larger than past encampments.

Earlier in 2023, plans to turn the the old railway line into a road were criticised, with others calling for it to be turned into a footpath and cycle path.

In November, a smaller group of caravans set up camp on former Simonstone car dealership site on Bath Road, before moving on.

While in north Bristol, the council is set to open a new site for vehicle dwellers on land in Lockleaze that is currently occupied by an unauthorised encampment.
