Huge new theatre for dance to open in Bristol's The Mount Without in a ‘new era’ for the South West

The 200-capacity venue in The Mount Without will launch with a week of performances and community events starting Friday, January 24.
It has been created by resident dance company Impermanence, who raised over £125,000 to install seating and a sprung stage in the former church on St Michael's Hill.

Joshua Ben-Tovim, co-director of Impermanence, described the launch as “an incredible opportunity to celebrate the power of dance in a space that fuses historic grandeur with contemporary artistry.
“The Mount Without is more than a venue; it’s a home for creativity and community.”

With just £40,000 left to secure, a crowdfunder is now live to help complete the theatre project ahead of its January debut.

Hide AdThe grand reveal will take place on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25 with Please Take Your Seats, a triple bill of dance featuring award-winning choreographers Mark Bruce and Seeta Patel, as well as work from Impermanence.
The evenings will conclude with panel discussions on the future of dance and the role of the new venue in supporting the sector.
