Used car dealer Cazoo has shut its Bristol site suddenly. The Bath Road dealership opposite McDonald’s is ‘permanently closed’ according to Google.

The company recently said it planned to end the sale of used cars and become an online advertising marketplace to rival the likes of Auto Trader.

In an announcement to investors last week, Cazoo said it would be ‘transitioning to a pure play automotive marketplace’.

The used car dealer said it would be ‘unwinding’ its stock and selling it via retail and wholesale channels.

The company was widely reported to be restructuring its debt and refinancing. It made a large number of job cuts after a wave of redundancies last year.

Cazoo’s CEO Paul Whitehead stepped down at the end of March, only a year after he was appointed.
