A Bristol pub that has been trading since the 18th century has closed its doors. The Ship Inn on Lower Park Row announced its closure on Facebook on March 12.

The historic pub dates back to the late 1700s and was once the closest pub to the tram sheds, now occupied by Zerodegrees brewery.

In recent years, The Ship Inn has been run by music promoter Tony Zaremba-Wyczlinski, who organised popular karaoke nights, live music and quiz nights at the pub.

Regular customers of the pub took to social media to express their sadness that it had closed.

Stuart Mills said: “Had a few great ambulance staff nights out in there.”

Customer Ian Bull said: “I have so many good memories of The Ship,” and Peter James posted the message saying “That’s sad to hear”.
