The much-loved bakery chain, which already has stores across the city, will now sell its trademark bakes, sandwiches and pasties to hungry shoppers in Brislington.

The new Greggs will be located inside the Tesco Extra on Callington Road. Work on the new cafe and store has been going on behind screens for the past couple of weeks and shoppers were given their first clues to what it was when Greggs signs appeared today.

Two years ago, Greggs opened a similar store inside Asda in Bedminster and there is also a branch at Primark in the Horsefair.

There are 20 Greggs stores in Bristol and there is also an ‘outlet’ store in Redfield which sells its unsold food at a lower price.

Greggs won’t confirm the opening details of the new store in Tesco but a spokesperson said: “Greggs is due to open a new shop in Brislington within the next week. We can share further information over the next few days.”
