We visit a spectacular Wizard of Oz-themed festive light trail at a historic castle an hour from Bristol

Spectacle of Light is open on selected nights until December 30

An hour’s drive from Bristol, the Spectacle of Light is one of the most magical festive illuminations, set within the stunning grounds of Sudeley Castle, near Cheltenham.

Visitors embark on an enchanted, Wizard of Oz themed journey down the yellow brick road through the impressive castle grounds, weaving around thousands of beautiful lights showcasing the majestic trees, historic ruins, award-winning gardens and the magnificent castle itself. On the way, you can meet the characters of Dorothy, Toto, the Lion, Scarecrow, Tinman and – if you’re lucky to find him – the Wizard.

Trail-goers can enjoy a rich mulled wine or warm spiced apple drink from The Pavillion before they wander through the grounds, experiencing the magical moonlit trail.

Afterwards, you can enjoy tucking in to delicious street food on the Castle Terrace, including freshly baked pizzas, mouth-watering hot dogs and hot mulled cider.

Visitors can also enjoy the opportunity to browse the festive gift shop before heading home.

Spectacle of Light has been delighting thousands of visitors in the grounds of Sudeley Castle – one of the Cotswolds’ most popular family attractions - for almost ten years.

Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle is open on selected nights until 30 December 2023.

Popular dates in the run up to, and around, Christmas have already sold out, but tickets are still available to book online at: https://www.everymantheatre.org.uk/sudeley.
