Gallery: First look at ‘epic’ drone light show coming to Bristol

Evolution will see around 400 drones take to the sky to form colourful shapes

An ‘epic’ drone light show is coming to Bristol in December. The event, called Evolution, promises to take audiences on a ‘mesmerising journey through time and space’.

Using ‘state-of-the-art’ drone technology, it will see around 400 drones take to the sky above Seat Unique Stadium in Bishopston.

Created by local experiences company, Yuup, and drone show company, Celestial, the show will tell the story of the universe's evolution.

The drones will form shapes, including an Ancient pyramid and Eiffel tower, to a cinematic soundtrack.

The organisers say Evolution is ‘the very latest in creative entertainment for all ages with this new, spellbinding show and celebration of the living world’.

The event, which is also being held in Wolverhampton, will feature fairground rides, music and a food village with local traders In addition to the main show.

A preview of the Evolution was held at Seat Unique Stadium, where TV presenter and technology journalist, Georgie Barrat, hosted the event and metro mayor Dan Norris launched it.

Speaking at the preview, Norris said: “I’m proud Bristol is one of just two cities that will be holding the Evolution drone show telling the magical story of evolution - from the Big Bang to the reign of dinosaurs.

"It just goes to show that when it comes to attracting the country's biggest and best creatives, we're right up there leading.”

Dominic Mills, founder & CEO of Yuup, added: “The feedback we have had so far has been extraordinary, and we are more excited than ever to bring this new type of winter entertainment to the UK.”

John Hopkins, Celestial co-founder & CCO, commented: “This ground-breaking show tells the age old story of evolution in a brand new way; using our blockbuster drone art.

“We’re taking viewers on a unique journey through time and space, encouraging positive conversations about how humanity can evolve into a healthier, greener future.” Evolution is being held at Seat Unique Stadium, home of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, on December 19-21.
