Fire crews were called to Stockwood after a flat fire was reported on Hollway Road at the weekend.

Crews from Hicks Gate and Temple stations were called on Saturday afternoon (February 11) to reports of a fire at a property. The small fire started in a cigarette bin on the balcony of the second floor of the property.

Local residents took to social media when they saw the fire engines rush to the scene around 3.30pm.

Julie Otley said: “There were three fire engines outside the shops … no idea what was going on.”

Fellow Stockwood resident Steph Manning-Davis said: “They were all parked outside the apartments outside Mario’s cafe.”

A spokesperson from Avon Fire & Rescue Service said the fire was out before the fire service arrived and the cause is thought to have been accidental.
